Manhole covers in japan - amazing how colorful and detailed they are.

Each prefecture has a different one, competing among themselves to have the best manhole cover design.

Each one is decorated with a pattern / landscape specific to that region, for example hirokawago has traditional houses (UNESCO heritage), Nagano has the winter olympics, others show typical flowers from their area.

I made my friend take all these pictures and promised to make a wallpaper with them, but..it’s been 1,5 years now… Maybe he’ll find this post good enough?
